Maintaining our Equipment

Maintaining our Equipment

Things do Break, but Don't Worry!

Although all equipment is checked prior to leaving our Sterling, VA warehouse for rental, there are times when through age or misuse they are returned needing repair. Our equipment Is thoroughly checked to ensure proper working function after each rental. Here is a somewhat common problem with the which was recently returned and is in our shop.

You can see from the photo that the connecting rod that drives the hammering mechanism is broken. This can occur if the tool is driven with too much air pressure. We are going to replace this connecting rod and sealing gasket, lubricate, and put it back in service. Our goal is to ensure that the tool you need is there when you need it, and is in excellent working condition. This is one of the many ways that we make that happen.

If you own one of these tools and are experiencing problems with the hammering action, make sure the collar is set to hammer drill and not drill only. If that is set, then remove the upper inspection cover to see if the gears and connecting rod are intact and moving properly. It may reveal the cause of your problem.
